Good morning! It is exactly 7:30 when I get out of bed. Today is a completely different day than yesterday: instead of sailing, we are using the engine for the entire trip. First, a shower and a walk to the supermarket for cheese and butter. In the meantime, Dad gets everything ready for departure, for a 7-hour trip of around 28 miles. We start the day easy. I sail from Indijk to Heeg and Dad does the work inside: arranging drinks and breakfast. It goes smoothly until we encounter bridges three at a time in Sneek: narrow canals, busy traffic, and wind. Difficult but doable. We continue; I am already inside when things go wrong. We get stuck, just before the Sneekermeer at the point where we enter the Princess Margriet Canal. Right next to the main buoy, it is immediately only 1.50 meters deep, Dad notes. Fortunately, we manage to get out at full power. At the ninth bridge on the route, I make a mistake and misjudge the distance. Luckily nothing is broken, just the pin on the anchor holder. It was a difficult journey due to the strong winds; we arrive in Leeuwarden. After 19 bridges, a lot of wind, and some tough moments, we make it through the day. We are allowed to moor our boat alongside nice neighbours and we have a fun evening. Just buy some clothes, bread and apple pie, and head to the Dubbel B for an amazing burger.
