Some repair works had too speed-up, since the launch was brought forward by a day and this was already a change in the schedule by a few weeks. The engine was disconnected from the remote control, electric and the propeller shaft. Also I started osmosis treatment, but a couple days ago did not finish yet
My daughter helped me on Monday with the portside, while I did the starboardsite. We worked perfectly at the same speed to the rear of the ship. She also helped me with the mount of the remote control (cables) to the Volvo Penta (marine engine). The next day I sanded the complete hull. Also I did a quick clean and polishing with wax of the freeboard. Should have done better, but not enough time.
In the afternoon the, I believe you call them Seacocks, had to be inspected and cleaned. Actually they didn’t close any more. It took me a lot of force in a small compartment under the toilet, where your arms don’t fit and all tools are too large. I managed to release the nuts from the bolt.
Now (with mistral.ai) I learned these are traditional cylindrical brass seacock. They look like “Blakes Seacock” (est 1789), since I have an Enlish ship this is plausible. The cylindrical body is made from DZR (dezincification-resistant) brass. That is perfect for durability and corrosion resistance. I only had to clean them a little, they still looked perfect. The conical plug valve does not have a O-ring. That looks strange, but it does work, because it is a metal-to-metal seal when closed. So you only need to release (a little) the plug retaining bolts, when things got stuck.
On Wednesday first I put a primer on the hull. The keel did have some rust and spacing, so a fast fix with kit. And everything was dry in time to put the antifouling paint on it. Also the propeller shaft mount to the engine (marine gear actually). At 19:00 I left with everything ready for the launch the next early morning.
